OT - Realgm pop up ads are ridiculous
i know most of you probably use pop up blockers and ad blockers so it won’t matter to you guys. but i am an old man who doesn’t know how to use all that stuff and i’ve never minded letting companies get paid by showing me ads.
but realgm ads are insane. every time i click on something i have to exit out of two pop ups. heck even if i’m on the same page for a little while they’ll pop back up.
it really has caused me to use the site much less. it’s weird because i wouldn’t think something so trivial would cause me to stop using the site but it really had.

It's super annoying on an iPhone, and the built-in pop-up blocker in iOS Chrome doesn't work on them. The *** videos with sound that pop up on the bottom right every time you load a new page (and won't close until you hit the X like 20 times) are the worst.

Download a popup blocker. They are free.

They have to make money to keep the site running.
There's no monthly fee, but if enough people agreed to one, I'm sure they'd get rid of ads.

I havent seen a pop up ad in over a decade and a half. Ad Blocker Plus is my friend.

I only get one ad consistently... and it's the one showing the god damn toe fungus.
So yeah, I usually avoid using the mobile version for that very reason.

Realgm is the only reason why I switched to Safari browser on my iPhone. I understand ads are necessary, but the ones here really soured the site experience for me and would’ve been a dealbreaker if I didn’t find a solution.

Pro tip for the owner of RealGM: start posting Elon Musk's airplane location on the front page and he'll buy you out for a few hundred million. Then you won't need to run ads. Although mods won't be able to ban anyone here since, you know, "free speech".

Re: OT - Realgm pop up ads are ridiculous
On websites I frequent that have a normal amount of ads I have enabled the ads to be shown through my ad blocker. On this website it was too annoying so I had to block them.

Stop using a trash phone and get a good one? And then stop using your phone for the internet too!

I use Adguard. Way better than those built in ad blocks.
It's either you use adblock or you suffer that aggressive advertisement approach.

The web browser is bearable without Adblock. Mobile is basically a no-go/non-starter with these ads.

I use Ghostery for iPhone and use that app exclusively to browse this site. On the notifications, it says that it blocks like 100 trackers on this site.

I paid $5 for a year long as blocker. It kinda doesn’t work that great anymore when trying to watch sports streams. But no more real gm ads lol

Re: OT - Realgm pop up ads are ridiculous
I agree with all of this.
My biggest gripe is when I'm watching the game on my phone (via the SlingTV or ESPN app). I minimize the the game play screen to fit in the corner of phone's screen, and scroll and post on Realgm while watching. The video pop ups from Realgm stop my Sling or ESPN app from playing and I have to constantly close out the pop up to get the game to start playing again on Sling or ESPN app on my phone.
Just super annoying.
