Will this forum software ever get updated? Maybe to Xenforo?

Will this forum software ever get updated? Maybe to Xenforo?

Post#1 » by CZ Eddie » Thu May 19, 2022 3:34 pm

I like everything about the current forum software except for two things.

1) Threads don't remember the last thing I read, so I have to spend time looking for the newest post in a thread when I re-visit.

2) Difficulty in posting images.

Otherwise, this forum is great IMO.

Any plans to upgrade before the new NBA season starts?
Summer would be a great time for that.

I think it’s the most god awful form software I have ever been on. It’s friggin terrible and the ads popping up every 5 seconds is enough for me to leave

An easier way to upload gifs/images would be nice. Too much code involved.

I agree.. i used to spend a lot more time on RealGM (daily) but the experience is so poor I rarely bother now.

The Website from a computer is just completely unusable. So when I do come here, I use the smartphone app.

My notifications have not updated since May 28th.

Polls can not be viewed or participated in from the app. "And 1" isn't available, so if you support a post ir poster you have to clutter the thread with a "Yeah, I agree" post. There is no ability to simply paste a link in and have it appear with a preview (the year is 2022 guys).

Does anyone actually read and respond to these? (I will probably never know since notifications aren't working).

I'd be willing to donate. We should crowd fund a board upgrade.

I second the use of the Xenforo software. Love it on overclock.net.

Before the season starts would be a great time to update to something from the 21st century

Unpopular opinion, but I say just keep it like it is.

I've been part of too many message boards where they tried to "modernize" their layout and design. And that's usually the nail in the coffin.

Most users here are oldies. And probably hate change.

What they should add, is a night mode switch.

And if you're going to do an update now would be the worst time to do it. You don't make a major change when traffic is up. You do it during the dead time after Summer League.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

A "block" feature would be a nice tool.
