Why Is There A Delay Before You Can Edit A New Post?

How come for a few minutes after you post a post, you can't edit it or use any of the other buttons that are with the edit button(because they aren't there)? During that time there's a button that does nothing when you press it in their place. Is it supposed to do something? What does what's written on the button mean?

I can get around the delay by editing another of my posts and and changing the p= number in it's URL to the new post's p= number.

Oh. I think I was more wondering why it was happening than interested in having it fixed. We'll see if it was fixed after I post this post.

Edit: It's been fixed. Why was it happening?

There was just a minor glitch after an unrelated update.
