The OTB is really starting to suck. Everythings getting locked or deleted for no apparent reason. There are being bans and suspensions thrown left and right. People are leaving because its really starting to suck. We try to create a general chat thread to talk about whatever we want, but it always gets locked or deleted. Its really starting to get out of hand.

Some of the topics may be inappropriate, do you consider it thread worthy to start such a topic? Perhaps it is a redundant thread that was already made.

I like what the mods are doing on the OTB at the moment. While you think it sucks, it sucks for the more mature audience who have to deal with the childish threads, and maybe one day the babysitting won't be needed as much.

Its the minority ruining it for the majority I'm afraid.

Thats how I feel at least.

I know that back seat modding is looked down upon and all, but perhaps it would work to take some posters who are both active yet generally follow the rules be able to voice their opinion to guys who aren't following the rules. The mods are more like parents to them, whereas fellow posters are more like peers. It might be more effective to hear from guys that they think they are imitating that they are ruining the board.

I don't know, just a thought.

You bastards got the GCT locked with your stupidity. When I say stuff like "you are stupid, stop posting here" I'm not joking, it means I don't want you in my chat threads!

I want the general chat thread to be re-opened, but the porn, cussing, and obvious post padding in it need to stop. As for the other locked topics, they either turned into obvious post padding or devolved into personal comments. Yes, there have been many suspensions and bannings; many posts have been reported. You do know that when a post is reported the forum mods of that board, global mods, and commishes are all notified, can see who reported it, and what was in the offending post.

I remember having a lot of fun on the OTB in years past, and I want the current posters there to enjoy it too. There just seems to be some immature, dull, un-creative people there who think the rules do not apply to them. We are doing our best to weed them out.

It get really annoying when posts have nothing to do with the topic. There are people who actually are interested with the discussion, don't ruin it trying to work on your comedy act.

stop the crusade against cussing! how else are we gonna learn each other's regional expletives?

im disappointed bc there was a thread titled 'fundraising' and now its gone. i searched for that thread for 10 minutes.

Locking the GCT might not have been the best idea, because now:

a) the OTB is dead
b) all the bored posters are spilling into the rest of the OTB

I am aware of that, but I am not a senior mod on that board. Jakay and I were the last two added. I am waiting to hear from the global on this matter.

What would get RealGM Chat up and running? Is it to unmoderatable to do?

Those posters should **** deal with it. I am. Go read a book or watch porn if your bored. Find some random forum and go post there.

i strongly suggest that people do not read policies about how to interact w other human beings and just accept their punishment (ostracization) when it happens

thats how i operate IRL and i never complain when they put me in jail.

So your saying you support us being active post reporters? Like you aren't gonna get pissed if you get 100 reports because thats probably how many I could make in a day if I wanted to.

I don't even know what a good post is any more. I used to think I was a good poster, but apparently I'm not.

Maybe even more mods should be added to the GOTB. And perhaps there should be little or no tolerence there. Some boards have already done so, and it's worked wonders for them. Jakay's announcement is brilliant and all, but it really serves no purpose in urging better behavior. I know Bulltalk posted an announcement telling everybody to grow up, but it's not very elaborate.

I did a search on Winterpeg's past posts, and it turns out that the GOTB has been locked twice. And it seems that if people keep this **** up, then we'll lose the GOTB permanently.

I guess all we can do is keep reporting posts and hope that all the teenage graffiti artists are weeded-out.
