Why does Realgm always use stupid pictures for their stories

Why can't they put a normal picture of the basketball/coach/gm/ or whoever they are talking about just like every other professional publications. Instead they use pictures of people making weird reactions.

For example, they posted a funny-looking picture of Pau Gasol in hopes that it would help Grizzlies fans stop crying for a minute.

Is it a rights issue? I am sure pictures for a commercial site aren't free.
