when they lock threads, is it part of their job to give an explanation as to why the thread is locked?
if it is, then none of the current affairs board mods are doing their job, as their are 4 locked threads, none having explanations.
if its not part of their job, it should be, because many posters wonder why it is being locked. why should the mods get several pms asking the same thing. just give an explanation to everybody, not one or a few people.
Are moderators required to give an explanation?

that would be a wrong assumption. i created one thread, it got locked, then a 2nd, it got locked. then i created a third thread which got sticked, then later also locked.

The threads you create cause too much hostility between the two parties. That's why we have war.

The stickied thread is not locked. Post to your heart's content about it there.

PMing mods does work (most of the time), but I think it would be a lot more convenient if mods were required to give explanations. It would save the trouble of posters having to PM mods for an explanation, and it would also let the general public know why a thread was locked.
I already see a lot of mods give explanations, so why not make it mandatory?

Seeing a few topics on why threads are locked in the suggestions forum would indicate that sometimes the answer is not obvious. I don't think it hurts for a mod to post a simple reason for locking. As stated, many mods do this already. I've seen other forums do it and I think it makes things go smoother.

uhh obviously since theres is like two threads asking mods to explain themselves its not "obvious"
Is it really to much to ask for a mod to give a credible explanation of why they are locking threads? Or is this to much for them to handle?
