Moderators who lock threads...

I have noticed that when i post on a certain board there are some tolerant moderators who, almost anything goes with them. Then there are mods who are on a power trip and lock every thread against a certain person because they have a grudge or vendetta against said person. Is there any way to prove that a mod is locking a posters threads just cuz they have something against that person? I dont think that should be allowed and I dont think that many mods per board is necessary

All Moderators lock threads. It comes with the territory.Most threads are locked because they are redundant or used to "bait" people. However, there are many other reasons why it happens as well.

You would first need to "prove" that moderators lock threads based on a vendetta vs. violating the rules of the forum.

I think we do need to allow some of us the mods the benefit of the doubt in that we all have a very different personality and views. Therefore, while some of us are more reactive, some of us have always been more proactive. Speaking from my own experience, I've never locked a thread or asked for disciplinarian action on a poster because I don't like him/her. In times where I've come across a situation where something needs to be done, I generally communicate with my other Pacers mods and we come to a consensus, thus limiting any one man's influence on major discipline or policy.


However, some people know when something will blow up and don't want to see their posters get in flamewars over something that shouldn't have happened, while other mods like to give every thread the opportunity to run it's full course, even if they know they're going to lose some good posters over it. Communicate with the mods, and I'm sure you'll come to know them a little better and see their style a little more clearly. Don't just communicate with them when you think you're in trouble, but communicate when you're confused, or just to get a better feel for them.
