this thread has been going on for days. i don't know why mods haven't locked it yet. the thread is full of flame war and insults. compucomp is going all out dissing everybody that disagrees with him. yes, he even brought up my grandparents...

examples:

It's all fun and games for you until we demolish your regime in under 2 weeks and send you to reeducation camp.

How much did your grandfather sell your grandmother to the Japanese soldiers for? Hell he probably volunteered her as a comfort girl just to earn a few quick bucks for himself.

So the thread starts talking about Chinese medicine, someone mentions Taiwain being invaded by China, monkeyfeng posts a reply saying it would, the guy insults him, Monkeyfeng says "mods, please lock this thread. it's going way off topic and it's disrespectful for the people that live in the island of taiwan. talking about attacking them..", and thread progressively gets worse, and he gets banned?

Your moderators sit on their asses for more than a dozen pages during a flame war and your solution is to ban both guys? I, along with dozens of others, have tried to bait Monkeyfeng into insulting us by speaking badly of himself and his country and not once has he said anything bad to us. What a crock of ****.

Wow what a joke, there were at least two posters in that thread that deserved to be banned 100 times more than the OP.

Terrible move by the mods. Monkey did not deserve the death penalty even if he is a Bengals fan.

Monkeyfeng was NOT waived because of anything within the thread in question (the thread on the Rockets board involving Chinese medicine). If he were, perhaps it would be reasonable to prattle on.

A different mod (no, not me) noted - yet another - TOS violation by monkeyfeng in a different board and had asked admins that procedure be followed and he be banned. That request came into admins on Friday afternoon and acted upon on Saturday morning. That lag time is what's behind some of the confusion.

So - let's all live in the factual world here for a second:

1. Monkeyfeng was not waived for anything he said in the Chinese medicine thread.

2. Monkeyfeng was cited by another mod for another violation of the TOS. It was one of many he'd received in his "career" here at RealGM.

3. Because of his history, his previous warning, suspensions, etc.; Monkeyfeng reached the point of waiving - again, NOT for anything he said in the thread in question, but for something on a completely different board.

4. No Houston mod was associated with Monkeyfeng's ban. In fact, it was Monkeyfeng who was completely and totally responsible for it.

Y'all do realize that Feng is medically depressed? He was on the brink of suicide not too long ago.

that's the thing that bothers me about this. alright he's racked up some TOS violations, but we should not be cutting off any sort of outlets he has at the moment.

I'm not a shrink or anything, but I know enough that there is a greater good than the TOS and we should consider the welfare of all posters at the same time.......we all come from different places and have travelled different paths....the TOS applies to us al lequally but policing it sould require a bit of flexibility.

At the very least he's shown a capacity to learn and grown beyond his violations into sme sort of redemption. I should know as I butted heads with him more often and harder with him than probably anyone else on RealGM. And I grew to respect the guy.

I dunno....if it was a long time coming, fine....but what difference will a little while longer make? You have posters like AtoZ who are spamming for the Extremely Off Topic Board without a second thought. Ban that tool right away, but he hasn't been yet (granted I can understand there may be a somewhat lengthy process involved).

Moderate with moderation. You guys have a tough job and you do it well, kudos to you. I just think that sometimes there are considerations greater than the ToS that need to be made.
