OT: allowing us to communicate ... come on mods
mods,
we love you, we love the site. we obviously love the message board. how hard would it be to allow us to PM or IM one another? I've heard the argument about people PM'ing or IM'ing abusive messages and i get it. but i will offer a few rebuttals on that.
#1 every srvice that allows PM'ing or IM'ing i;ve ever seen has a feature to ignore certain people. that solves your problem right there.
#2 quite frankly? some of us enjoy arguing with one another. some of us enjoy the threads that degenerate into written slug fests. i was watching generation kill on hbo recently and i mean have you heard how those guys talk to one another? some of us enjoy that type of banter.
i mean i was just back in royal vlads latest absurd post about a contest and i read this gem of a response by evil e
"I would be all about this thread if you purchased the winner plane tickets to your city and allowed them to punch you repeatedly in the face and record it to digital high definition video."
not to sound gay or anything, and not that there is anything wrong with being gay (i'm just into girls) but i think i just fell a little in love with evil e after reading that.
same with BnO the other day when he simply wrote FAILURE and bolded a spelling mistake in another dudes post.
hey simple things make me laugh, what can i say. i would like to be able to pm or im a fellow poster if i please. and not just to tell them that i can still taste their little sister's sn@cth from this morning. i mean i feel like i kinda know a few of my posters on here now. but its like i cant have a real conversation with many of them because we cant exchange any information without posting it for everyone else of the board.

you are not part of the solution... you are part of the problem.
dont hijack this legit thread into something else.
Insults removed. Keep to the topic, and leave the personal insults out of the discussion.

We should all threaten to move to basketballforum.com if our demands are not met.
List of demands
1. enable PMs
2. delete the bulls board
3. ban doctor harvey

1. YES
2. if we delete their board wont they troll here even more?
3. banning is strong. why not a strategy of containment in which do charvey has one thread dedicated to him and people who want to engage with him on a variety of topics... he's seemingly and expert at everything.

1}Its not up to the mods. we only have control over the boards, not the way the site is set up
2}with all the conflicts that happen it seems obvious that poster to poster PMing is just asking for trouble and a new way to take personal attacks to each other
3}I dont think the PM option is designed for conversation so much as a direct way to request help or make suggestions/compaints to mods

I agree with fite, not just because he may be in love with me, but because PMing is a nice way to reach people without having to blow up your IM and email govt, or without making needless OT theads.
I like your demands, but honestly I don't think I could get a kick outta any other forum as much as this one.
K742, have you been in hiding since Hillary's defeat? We miss you!

Isn't that what an ignore function would be for? At least anything that happens over PMs the mods would not be held responsible for upkeeping, which is why they are PERSONAL messages.

I guess when you put it that way, it makes sense for this forum because of all the limitations placed.. If there were more OT boards where you could interact with fellow posters in ways such as buying and selling stuff, etc. PMing would be necessary. btw, how come we're not allowed to barter on the boards anyway?

i agree. the realgm userbase is great. it's the reason i went from lurker to active poster in a matter of days.
another idea would be to start up a secret invitation only forum.

Not being able to PM anyone is one of the worst ideas this site has ever had. Why wouldn't the ignore option carry over onto PMs? Someone personally attacks you via pm then you report it then put them on block. I don't see whats so hard about that. We aren't children for Christ's sakes.
The worst part about it? Having the following question posed to you in your control panel:
Allow Private Messages? Yes No
If you won't allow it whatsoever then why the f_ck have it in our control panel?

Re: OT: allowing us to communicate ... come on mods
UGH ... WTF? why in carmen san diego was my OT: realgm deadpool thread locked? is it so much to ask that if a mod locks a thread to at least post in it before they do explaining why it was locked?
i mean i made it clear it was all in fun and no one was going to attempt to actually kill anyone.
also i just tried to pm a mod to ask the question and i cant even find where to pm a mod anymore... i really love the fellow posters on this site... and for the most part the mods themselves are cool... but the functionality on here is AWFUL... its so bad im surprised isiah didnt try to sign it to the full MLE years ago.
