Criteria for Deleting Threads

Besides the obvious answers (ie. trolling, off-topic, duplicate threads, etc) what is the criteria for deleting threads?

For example, a very good discussion about Dwight Howard was deleted today. None of the above offenses occurred. When I asked why, my post was deleted.

Maybe a mod didn't like the subject matter was about Dwight Howard, but even so a) why wouldn't it get locked b) for SEO purposes what is the point in deleting that thread c) why would a thread of a good discussion (over 10 pages long) get deleted.

If anyone could answer this question it would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe there was too much bickering going on. That's all it takes sometimes.

If the thread was locked, then it normally gets moved to the restricted area - where locked threads go to die.

On the general OT board we have a locked sticky (so only mods can post there) about why a thread was locked or deleted. Truthfully, we don't use it that often because on the general OT board it's usually obvious to everyone why that action occurred, but we do employ it now and then.
