I posted a link to an article I wrote about the 700 billion dollar bail-out in the current affairs section and my topic was locked because the article was from my blog. I just want to get this straight: unauthorized material you grab from internet sources = okay; any original thought of your own that is on the internet = forbidden . . .
Did I get that right? How dare us average, everyday board users contribute something original of our own!

My guess it that one-third of the users here a blog. 90% of those likely consist of inane ramblings not fit for human consumption.
Your blog is a prime example of the above; if the mods allow your attempt at satire to take up space, it becomes necessary to let everyone post their drivel in a misguided attempt to push their hit counters into double digits. And then RealGM becomes a clusterf**k of masturbatory blog links, rather than what we know and love...and clusterf**k of masturbatory posts. And nobody wants that.

**** your asterisk.

Excuse me, but the Off-Topic board IS 90% inane ramblings... I dare you to compare my blog with the other crap you allow to be posted. I can actually put a coherent pair of sentences together.

That it is. But the Off-Topic board is inane ramblings designed to garner responses (also in the form of inane ramblings) and something akin to a conversation. Posting your blog, on the other hand, is just an attempt to pleasure yourself without going to the trouble of unzipping your pants.

Jury's still out.

I don't share articles from my blog just to get hits, I actually believe I have something, however silly it is, to share with people here. I'm not new around here, I don't post here out of self-promotion. The short pieces on my blog are longer versions of the kind of one-liners I say on the Knicks board.
And, for you to think you can legislate taste--as if you are "the decider" when it comes to what other people find funny says alot about how you conceive your role around here. I know it must be hard for you to try and play God all day long so take a break.

I would say, we had like I don't know about 30 threads already discussing the Wall St bailout you could have neatly slid your rambling into. Thread space is limited. Thats my take, and Take you very much. And Take me for back seat modding today. Sometimes you get the itch ya know?

Re: Why can't we share our own writing?
It's the Current Affairs board. As inane as the discourse on that board can be (and I'm as much a part of that as anyone), the guiding principle is to post things that are at least somewhat likely to generate discussion. Here's the full range of possible reactions to your post:
"lol. That was good."
or...
"that wasn't at all funny."
Neither is likely to spawn any real discussion. Thus, irrelevant.
As for your martyrdom at the hands of authority, both of your posts (the original thread and the bitchy after-thread) were flagged inappropriate, which is the main reason I noticed them. Cleaning up drivel =/= legislating taste. I'm not playing God, for **** sake...I'm the volunteer janitor.

I agree that the thread wasn't likely to generate discussion. However, you could have said that in the first place instead of calling me an "attention whore" and insulting my sense of humor and blog.
All I can say is check out tomorrow's edition of my blog because you will be my featured article. But, of course, it shouldn't bother you because you know I'm neither clever nor funny. This will be a fun one to write. lol

Tell ya what - put it on the general OT board - there are truly some serious conversations there. However, it does not belong on the CA board, or else we will become inundated with people who all think their opinions merit threads. I'm sure you see the validity of that. Don't feel like the lone ranger; we've locked opinion pieces before, and in all likelihood, we will have to again.
