Football/Baseball Board Popularity

Post#1 » by Buck You » Wed Oct 8, 2008 8:15 pm

Okay, I love the football and baseball boards. But if you really want them to get popular you should enforce them more. You made these boards so people could talk about their football/baseball/hockey teams on another board except the basketball one. But, here we have this example. On the Washington Wizards board there is a 23 page thread about the Redskins. here is the link to that thread. How are the football and baseball boards supposed to get popular if the moderators of the basketball forums allow their posters to talk about football and baseball on the basketball board? I know on the Bucks forum if someone posts a brewer or packer related topic it gets locked right away and the OP is told to go to the respective boards. On the Knicks board too they have threads on the mets, yankees, giants, etc. I just think that if you want these boards to be more popular and not have dead boards like the Padres and Royals, that you should enforce this more.

good idea, maybe instead of locking them, just move the threads to the respective boards, and tell everyone to go there
whatever works i suppose

I've wondered about that as well, and I totally agree.

If this were made mandatory, I think that, overall, discussion would actually increase because it would be more relevant and organized.

Occasionally, moderators of say an MLB forum will post a thread about a milestone or special event on an NBA forum to draw attention to that forum.

It's only supposed to be occasional though and go 1-2 pages max.

I know traffic is still slow on some of the MLB, NFL and most of the NHL forums but were working on increasing it.

Horrible example samsquatch. Come on dude. This is/was a basketball forum first. Want to tell me what basketball team plays in Kansas City and San Diego? That's why the Royals, Padres and Pirates boards have very few posts.
