way to turn off slideshow?

The slideshow feature of the wiretap absolutely bogs down my computer when its open. Not sure what the deal is but I'd really love to find a way to turn it off. Is there any way to make this happen? I'm more than happy to disable the wiretap completely if it means that realgm doesn't drag my computer to a crawl.
