Why don't the admins respond?

Post#1 » by The Explorer » Tue Jan 20, 2009 7:11 pm

There are a lot of threads suggesting something to the forum, or asking for assistance from the admins, or giving their feedback on a particular issue. Just wondering why we never hear from them at all...

Not all administrators are always present in the forum if you were to ask them to respond a certain thread. Some administrators like Howard Mass are here for name change requests and that is all. If you would like to ask an administrator to respond to a thread, you will need to email them.

Why have a Feedback and Suggestions board if no-one in authority looks at it? There's no way in hell that they're too busy to, for example, respond to my thread on here about the dumb slideshow. It would take 1 minute to post a response to the effect that we're looking into disabling it or, alternatively, we're going to keep feeding it fresh stories to make it a worthwhile service. Not too bloody hard, is it?

i think there are mods that check on it, and relay it to the right people

so, what is your suggestion, OP? Be specific instead of vague.

I would suggest that the admins respond to threads. Espcially ones which express posters' annoyances which certain issues, such as PMs, search feature, and slideshow. They should respond to the questions, give their feedback, or give some sort of an update if they are working on it.

I think Howard or Peg has commented on the search function and PM problems. What's wrong with the slide show? However, bring it to their attention.

You're kidding? You think it's acceptable? I started a thread about it a week ago (look down about 6 topics). The stupid slideshow has "Features" that are a month out of date and the stupid thing changes too quickly to be able to read the Wiretap in one go or click a link. You can't tell me that you don't have to stuff around hitting pause and back to have time to read the items? And those "Features," did I mention the features!

I can assure you that is not true. Find it odd that somebody who has been on this board for a whole two months came to that conclusion.

They just said 'yes, its an issue and we may get to it', or something to that effect. But they haven't commented in the search thread for several months. Same with threads about PMs. A forum's most basic features are PMs and search, and they haven't worked for how long now? More than a year? Don't you think that's unacceptable?

As for the slideshow, the guy above already addressed that. I mean, come on, its the end of January and you have 'Merry Christmas, Raptors fans". Thats a joke!

I'm sure they have looked into it, but I'm also sure that there are more pressing needs for the site at this moment.

What are more pressing needs than restoring the most basic of forum functions?

We hope to have the search and user to moderator PM's working eventually.

Everything is going to be taken care of eventually so hang in there.

The people on this site do more with the site other than the message board.
