honestly this is not a bash thread , cause this website is great everything from the wiretap to the posters but if you were to try and improve this site what would you do.

As far as the other boards are concerned, it's us the Raptors board, we fill all 10 slots

One way to help improve RealGM would be moderator feedback. Allow the posters to voice opinions on mods and see if they are liked/disliked.

Modding, unfortunately is not a popularity contest. Most of us mods on the Raptors board were far more popular as posters than as mods. Why? Well, because sometimes we have to take unpopular positions and unfortunately warn and ban posters. Most of the banned posters return and have an axe to grind. Fact is the Raps board is probably the hardest board to mod on this site or is neck and neck with the Off Topic Board. By hardest, I mean the immature/offensive nimrod to informed and/or intelligent poster ratio is unusually high and requires a lot of moderation.

I used to post often on RealGM, but the last two years, I started to lose interest after they took away the "View Post" option and the "Search" option. I liked being able to research what I had said before or what others had said. I just don't have the time to look around for posts I worked on and replies. Now, I just visit every once in a while just to read. Back in 03 through 08, I thought it was the bomb. Now, it has lost its fun after having those options. I have started going elsewhere for my basketball info needs. I wish it was like it used to be. This place used to be more fun.

Yeah, the lack of a search feature is ridiculous and inexcusable. The reasoning for it being gone is BS and everybody knows it.

Can we know what's going on with this? It's been a while now without the search feature- when is it going to come back?

I think the biggest improvements I'd like to see from RealGM would be:

1. Return the search feature.

2. PM's need to be re-instated, at least allowing posters to PM mods.

3. Fix the trade checker, so that trades can be modified instead of starting over every time.

4. The quality of RealGM articles is well behind most blogs.

5. The Wiretap news feed needs a better editor, who can distinguish between legitimate news and garbage that a Sam Smith or Peter Vescey might spread to fill a column.

casey and Induveca brought up this point a year ago. Since then, RealGM has worked hard to get the best possible material out there. If you have concerns about the state of RealGM article writing, I write some of them and am in regular contact with the editor, as well as a few of the other writers. I in no way represent RealGM but I can pass along thoughts to those who do.
