That's some wackness, I never get anything bad from this site. What program do you use that gives you such wack reports??

We work with Google a lot and they have always said directly that we are clear.

The safe browsing has appeared in the past for some users when there is an avatar on a bad site that another user has.

perhaps to eliminate the virus problem, you should eliminate avatars and signatures, or at least use better screening technology before allowing users to upload and use them. I have no doubt the viruses which have affected users on this site have come directly from the avatars and signatures of virus infected users. eliminating the avatars and sigs would go a long way to eliminating the viruses on this site. or at least incorprate something to scan them for viruses.

it would be admittedly very unpopular. but it might be necessary. which would you rather have? a site with zero viruses? or a site with zero avatars and sigs? I think i already know your answer.

The consensus we have received is that avatars and signatures are not a serious threat.

This came up when I was reading up threads on Knicks board. I tracked it down and it's from an avatar of someone, orangeblobman to be precise, who actually posted in this same thread a couple posts above me.

My norton antivirus just blocked an attack while posting on this forum. it said the threat was high. this is the read-out.

threat: HTTP Neosploit toolkit Activity
url: wemhlufeaqa.com/kav/kaus.html
source badboy 192.168.1,3 , 4332

does this mean anything to anybody? Did that come from an avatar? a real gm user? an advertiser?

^That looks like it came from an Avatar or SIG...the last line in the Norton post indicates a User's Profile.

You might want to try turning off Avatars/SIGs from your Control, that could help going forward in the future.

If it appears again, then you'll know if came from an Ad. If not, then it came from the Avvy/SIG.

my thoughts were that it came from a user's sig/avatar.

I'm sorry real gm owners and admin - at some time you're going to have to make a decision - site security verses users having sigs and avatars.

I know we all love the sigs and avatars, but they are bringing a lot of nasty viruses to your website. for computer securty sake, you are going to have to either find a way to screen people's sigss/avatars , or you're going to have to eliminate them.

I'm sorry, but a bouncing boob avatar/sig is not worth a virus infection on my computer.

^Sadly mate, I doubt any Forum on the Internet would disable Avys/SIGs site-wide.

You can however turn them off individually, so that you don't see Avys and SIGs when you browse the Forums from anyone (I gave you the steps above).

Hope that helps.
