Yeah, that's just not how time zones work. Teams need to sell tickets. If a team were to start games at 5:00 pm PST the season ticket holders would miss the 1st half. If they are consistently missing games they won't renew their tickets. Most people going to a game want to go home after work and change before the game. In big city traffic that is a two hour proposition.
There is a podcaster from Denmark named Morten Jensen that incessantly complains about the airtime of NBA games in Denmark. Sorry guys, there isn't really any point in complaining about it because it isn't going to change until the world stops turning. Local time is the only time that matters.
