NBA legend Jerry West has passed away at the age of 86. The LA Clippers announced that West's wife Karen was by his side as he passed way.
West was an All-Star in every year of his 14-year NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 6-foot-3 guard was named to 12 All-NBA teams, five All-Defensive teams, and was the MVP of the 1969 NBA Finals, despite being on the losing side. West's Lakers won the 1972 NBA title, as one of the best teams the league has seen.
West's slanting dribble style was so iconic, that the NBA uses his silhouette as the league's logo. His contributions as an all-time great saw West named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary team.
In retirement, West was a key architect of four NBA championship teams with the Lakers. West then helped the Memphis Grizzlies become an annual playoff fixture. Later in his front office career, West was a key contributor to the Golden State Warriors and LA Clippers, who were champions and contenders, respectively.
