Donovan Mitchell Would Like Cavs To Keep Jarrett Allen

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jun 15, 2024 11:27 pm

Jarrett Allen has been mentioned in trade rumors this summer. However, the Cleveland Cavaliers are reluctant to trade Allen.

One reason Cleveland isn't jumping on trading their starting center is that star guard Donovan Mitchell is a fan of Allen. Mitchell has been described as not wanting to lose Allen as a teammate.

Cleveland is expected to offer a Mitchell a four-year, max extension as soon as they are able to this offseason. Part of those extension discussions may then turn to roster construction, potentially including Allen's long-term fit.

What could go wrong when a front office makes roster moves based on the whims of a star player

Honestly do not miss all the drama attached with having Donovan Mitchell at all. What a nightmare.

I am pretty sure 100% of NBA stars give their thoughts on the roster when they have meetings with the GM. That is just the NBA. Not sure why people are making so much of a player saying he likes playing with another player. Is that such a horrible thing?

What part of him saying he likes playing with Jarrett Allen is a nightmare? They are an excellent pair and compliment each others game very well.
Cavs got hit with the injury bug bad this year, and I think that's the only concern with Allen going forward. But unless they can get a great return for him, no reason to trade him when the chemistry is solid.

All the top 20 players get input on their team roster, you are correct.

My question is, if Mitchell wants to keep Allen, and Mobley needs to play C... do they trade Mobley?

Having/providing input is not the same as creating whisper campaigns every off-season that terrorize the organization he plays for. He’s a snake and exceptionally so.

It must be great to know you’re constantly being evaluated and your fate significantly determined by a teammate (that is a chucker who doesn’t play defense and shirks accountability a lot) that wants everyone to know every thought he’s having in the media while never saying anything real to your face. Gotta be the best. What a great guy!

Its the Pros Bros, you get evaluated 14 different ways even during a timeout..... grow up.... a chucker who doesnt play defense this guy says.... yet if you watched any of the cavs playoffs games he was our ENTIRE team... I wasnt a fan of the diva-ness at first, but this year Mitchell turned me. He plays his ass off and wants to win.

Who is your team and how many top 15 guys do they have on their roster?

Edit: just saw you are a salty Jazz fan... now the post makes total sense....I thought you bums were happy and fleeced us with that sexton and markannen trade? You are better off spending your energy voting for the Utah Yetis.... YA LAME

It doesn't really matter which one they trade, but they should trade one of them. I think Allen will get paid considerably less over his career and be a better value. Mobley seems to be the kind of player that a team will give a max to and then regret it almost immediately.

I could see CLE move both Mobley and Garland this offseason.

If they want any long term success, they will need to move Garland and one of the bigs. I'm not sure it matters which big.
