Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic hasn't given up hope of playing for Slovenia in the upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Doncic will be evaluated by Slovenia's medical staff before being cleared to play in the tournament at the beginning of July.
Doncic finished the NBA Finals dealing with a right knee sprain, left ankle soreness and a thoracic contusion, which require painkilling injections to play. The Mavs star didn't want to talk about playing in the qualifiers following his team's Finals loss to the Boston Celtics.
"I don’t want to talk about what’s next, man. I have some decisions to make. I’m just trying to get a little bit healthier," Doncic said.
At his postseason media availability, Dallas GM Nico Harrison said he anticipates Doncic suiting up for his national team this summer.
"That’s probably one of his biggest joys," Harrison said. "As long as he can walk, he’s probably going to play for them. That’s my expectation."
