OG Anunoby Offered Max Contract From Rival Teams Before Re-Signing With Knicks

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Jun 27, 2024 5:54 am

OG Anunoby had max offers on the table from rival teams before re-signing with the New York Knicks, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.

Other teams could have offered Anunoby a four-year contract worth up to $182 million.

Anunoby instead re-signed with the Knicks on a five-year, $212.5 million deal.

So Knicks actually spent less per season than the other teams. This is a good deal after all.

glad OG stayed true to what was reported.. in terms of him taking a paycut.

now, calling this a paycut might not sound right. but hey, we are not making the prices teams have to pay those dudes.
im bout dat action boss

Once they traded for Bridges under the new CBA apron restrictions they knew exactly what they could afford and offered it. Overpay or not they really couldn’t afford to let him leave as they had no way of replacing him with their current cap situation. Plus he’s heading into his prime and has already shown he can play extremely well in both the system and the other players. Now it’s about trying to convince Hartenstein to return. If so then the only other likely move (via the lower MLE) that would actually impact cap and aprons would be a true backup veteran PG. Anything else would be by vet minimum contracts to guys that want to hop on a title chasing team.
