Perfect “LA” hire, just as Cameron Brink is also LA perfect.

What coaching experienced do you imagine Steve Kerr had to put him above "ZERO" ?

Kerr went from player to a broadcaster and GM.

Both Kerr and Doc Rivers (COTY) were hired with zero assistant or head coaching experience at either the college or pro level and both were non-star former players, like Redick. Mark Jackson (zero experience) wasn't well-liked (putting it very lightly) within the Warriors organization, but he also got some of the best results they'd had in decades. Kidd struggled but has gotten far with Dallas.

Experience isn't everything either:
Knick fans were (repeatedly) furious with Dolan & Co. for not hiring Ewing after he was an NBA assistant for 15+ years...
Ewing went to his "other" team-- Georgetown-- where the Hoyas had just won 118 games in prior 6 seasons with Thompson Jr.
Ewing and all his experience drove G'Town right into the toilet, going 75-109 in the next seasons including 2-37(!) in the Big East over his last 2 years. He presided over Georgetown's only season with zero conference wins (0-19) in 52 years of conference play.

How is it a loss for any of them? Let alone ‘numerous’? It’s one job. Its only a loss for whoever would have gotten it otherwise. And what if they went with a former head coach who is not currently an assistant? Would that be a win for assitants?

It's a loss because all those assistants should have had a good shot at the job. You are correct that the position is singular but it still impacts any assistant that had interest. Only 1 person would get the job but it's a positive for assistant A, B, and C because said assistants would have got their name out there, got the experience interviewing, and in the end, possibly even get the job.
