Damian Lillard Says He's Not Breaking Down, Bucks Are Under The Radar

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Aug 17, 2024 5:12 pm

Damian Lillard knows that he and the Milwaukee Bucks fell short of expectations last season. But Lillard said there are reasons for that, and that he's not falling apart physically.

"I’m not a player that’s breaking down," Lillard said. "I live a clean, good, healthy life, so I can do it. I can do the same (expletive) I did two, three years ago. I can do it right now."

In addition to working through several injuries, Lillard was going through a lot off the court. That contributed to his efficiency being down.

"There was a lot of change, a lot of stress, you know?" the veteran guard said. "I think now, having an opportunity to get myself in order and kind of start pushing forward to next season."

Lillard also said that he's OK that the focus is on the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks this season.

"The fact that we’re there and we’re under the radar is perfect because they’re gonna think nothing of us and then they’re gonna be like…You gotta face the truth, eventually. That’s how that usually works," Lillard said.

One of the 75 greatest player or all time. What a joke. His sponsors are really trying hard with him. Very overrated imo

If you're under the radar, you don't come out and declare it.

what else is he supposed to do that he hasnt? the guy has won numerous series in which his team wasnt favoured, he has a top 20 playoff ppg. he has 1 playoffs in 10 years below 58 ts%. how is overrated. What else would you like him to do from his position? he just averaged 31 in the first round.

I love Dame. He has had some clutch playoff moments and he has come a long way into the NBA from Weber State. I would like to see him be more authoritative on defense, get stops.

Making the playoffs 8 straight seasons as the best player on a small-market team in the West... That is hard to do.

Cannot dispute what he has already accomplished. The playoffs will be more interesting the more Dame we see.

But he has no control over his teammates breaking down
And he is not good enough, at this age, to consistently lead a team in the playoff

Lol I don't understand your point. So he scores alot. What does that got to do with him being 75 greatest of all time? T-Mac used to score alot too. He paired up with Yao and still didn't win. So did Mike James. You know him? NBA is full of scorers. He's not 75 greatest. I can find better players that are not on that list. That's my point.

Yes. Taking teams past first round is the measuring stick. He got into a massive deal with Nike. This happened right after D Rose didn't work out for them. So they hyped him up. Like I said, over-rated. And people like you bought into it.

okay, true hater test. What part of his game is overrated, and what could he do to show that hes not overrated in those areas.

Lol how about he boosts all areas of his game? Remind me what is he good at besides scoring? He's paired up with Gianis now so all the excuses are done. If he can't win a championship with a proven champion then i guess you will run out of excuses for him too, right?
