Had no idea he was suffering from brain cancer. So depressed to hear. Such a great role model and person off the court. Philly thanks you for 2001.

This should be the top WireTap article...not Mikal Bridges :nonono:

Mutombo's humanitarian work alone makes him one of the most proactive and generous human beings in history. We may have lost a Hall of Fame player, but Africa lost a true ambassador who loved his country.

I didn't know he was sick, so this was a surprise, and sad. RIP to a legendary player and even greater legendary humanitarian.

Totally blind sided by that. Didn't know he had a brain tumor.

I remember reading an interview with him where he basically said he played well past his prime because every additional season he played was another hospital he'd be able to build. Incredible basketball player, even more Incredible human, the world lost a great man.

Dude was an amazing defensive player but an even more amazing human being. Will be remembered forever. Hopefully his example inspires more to follow in his footsteps and continue his work. RIP Dikembe

One of my favs. I didn't know he was suffering either like most fans. Greatest shot blocker ever. R.i.p. Just brought my day down and I'm already mad

In the ways that actually, Mutombo was the GOAT of the league. This is a tragedy.

It is a sad day. He was really entertaining to watch in the NBA and he had that drive in his life to improve things in his homeland. He was building schools etc. in his native land. And he was overall a good person. The world has lost a good one. Rest In Peace Dikembe Mutombo... One more finger wiggle in honor of him!
