Cooper Flagg told ESPN that he's not a lock to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 draft and that he was solely focused on his upcoming season at Duke.
"For me, it's just about focusing on my team and this year and what we have to do. That's not something that I'm worried about or even thinking about, at this time," said Flagg.
The 17-year-old impressed scouts this summer with his play on Team USA Basketball's Select Team in Las Vegas.
The 2025 draft is seen as one of the most talented classes in years, and also includes Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper.
Jon Scheyer added Flagg will have to continue to prove his value throughout the season.
"Of course he has to prove it. I've seen guys who have been projected [No. 1], that have gone there, and then guys that are projected that don't go because you assume it's gonna happen. So I don't assume anything. I know Cooper doesn't," said Scheyer.
