Darko Rajakovic: Raptors Won't Have 'Cemented' Starting Lineup This Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Oct 5, 2024 5:10 pm

Darko Rajakovic said that the Toronto Raptors don't have a "cemented" starting lineup heading into the season, and expects the team to be "fluid."

“I think this season, we don’t have a cemented (starting) five ... I can see us being this year much more fluid, and I’m going to be much more experimenting and giving guys opportunities in games just to see their growth and how they can affect the game," said Rajakovic.

Masai Ujiri complimented Rajakovic's development as he heads into his second season as head coach.

“His development process is incredible — attention to detail, player by player. You can ask every single player that has come here," added Ujiri.

The Raptors will expect to continue to base the offense around pick and rolls.

“I’m expecting this to play a lot of pick-and-roll — yeah, especially me and [Immanuel Quickley] together,” said Jakob Poeltl.

The Raptors signed Scottie Barnes to a five-year max extension this offseason.

IQ, Barnes, Barrett and Poeltl are signed to nice deals now. Barnes is the only one that has something to play for (personal stats), so yeah, I can see all of them being willing to lose games, in order to get a top draft pick, to make them better going forward.
