Bulls Discussed Zach LaVine Trade Talks With Nuggets, Lakers

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:48 pm

The Chicago Bulls have made it no secret that they've tried to trade Zach LaVine. Earlier this season, the Bulls held trade talks with the Los Angeles Lakers. Those talks didn't go very far, and with the Lakers having traded D'Angelo Russell to the Brookly Nets, it's unlikely those talks will pick back up.

Chicago more recently engaged the Denver Nuggets on a possible deal for LaVine. Those talks aren't dead, but they have stalled.

Meanwhile. LaVine is putting together one of the best seasons of his career. The veteran wing is averaging 23.6 points on 52/44/81 shooting splits. LaVine is also grabbing 4.6 rebounds and dishing out 4.4 assists per night.

Who is claiming this is one of Lavine’s best seasons of his career? His agent?

Lavine isn’t even putting up All Star numbers, and his team sucks.

This is not his worst season, but it’s average for him.

It has been his best season in terms of shooting efficiency. He'll be in the AS conversation.

The math. It's numbers, not opinion.

Anyone who actually takes his efficiency into account and he has actually played within the offense.

You reach, I teach.

Magic Johnson didn't guard PGs, neither does Doncic. You don't have to guard PGs to play point guard.

Christie and LaVine would guard the opposing team's backcourt. Finney-Smith would guard the opposing team's small forward, and James would guard the PFs.

Regarding Reaves, on a championship team he's your fourth, preferably fifth option. If he's your third best player behind a 40 year old, your team is going nowhere.

Coming off the bench he'll still be good for 14 a game. If he's not getting cooked on defense, he'll finish most nights, and but I'd he is getting cooked, he sits to close games. That's the role that fits him best.

Bron all time leader in turnovers, but not all time leader in assists to offset it - fake PG. Statue Bron does not chase anyone around.

Can't trade Rui - he guards 2 players on the other team; his main assignment and Rebounding Statue Lebron's.

Approaching 24 ppg on over 50/40/80 shooting splits is not all-star production? Does he need to jack up more shots instead of playing team ball? Also the Bulls aren’t horrible. They are mediocre.

Zach isn’t demanding any trades. He’s content and playing great. He knows he isn’t coveted right now. He isn’t going to the Lakers either. That would have happened by now if it was a serious option.

Lol rui is a terrible defender and a poor rebounded.. seriously you clearly don't know basketball.. the issue would be rui earns around 18 million and zach something like 42 million.. So you would need to pile up contracts to get lavine.. If they were on the same contract Rui for Lavine would be done so fast.

LeBron in 2020 played the PG lead the lakers to the number 1 seed in the west and the NBA title. Curry and Kyrie don't defend the opposing best gaurd player either most of the time they have their best perimeter defender on that player.. LeBron has when younger gaurded at an elite level on the perimeter he no longer that obviously.. Curry and Irving were never that.

It really is one of his best seasons. His scoring is not forced. He's putting more effort on defense this season more than any other. He's added a new move or two. He's back to his most athletic year He's had in a while. Dunking more. Take him off the team and the Bulls are the worst team in the league or close. He's just under control quietly is creeping up into allstar form. Whether he has 35 points or 10 he just looks to be doing more in all categories. When playing with demar he looked mad and wasn't getting the ball like he wanted. Don't let his numbers fool you. Most bulls fans want him to stay than leave

Zach has played in part of 11 seasons.

This year so far he has his highest FG%, 3p%, 2p%, eFG%, and TS%. His usage rate is 7th highest of his 11 season career.

His main knocks are poor defense, injury prone, and poor efficiency/iso ball. I think he’s trying to show he can be productive without a super high usage, to convince a contender to trade for him. It’s really helping his value to the bulls on the court, who despite going tank mode and trading Demar and Caruso, still have a very similar record as last year.
