The Los Angeles Lakers have rescinded their trade with the Charlotte Hornets. The Lakers said that the Hornets failed to satisfy a condition of the trade, resulting in the deal being rescinded.
Los Angeles was set to acquire Mark Williams. Charlotte was picking up Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, a 2030 first-round pick swap and the Lakers 2031 first-round pick.
Both teams will still be in roster compliance after undoing the trade. Both the Lakers and Hornets will now have full rosters.
Teams are not allowed to amend the terms of a trade after the trade deadline has passed. If an issue is found, the only options are for the trade to be pushed through as-is, or for the deal to be rescinded.
