Kevin Durant On Suns Loss: We Embarrassed The Fans And Ourselves

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Mar 3, 2025 1:57 pm

The Phoenix Suns fell apart in the second half of their home loss the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. Veteran forward Kevin Durant didn't mince words after the loss.

"We didn't play up to our standards at all," Durant said. "We embarrassed the fans and we embarrassed ourselves the way we played. I want us to be better."

The Timberwolves scored 40 points off 22 Suns turnovers. Durant said when things get tough for Phoenix, they don't deal with adversity well.

"When adversity hits, we start floating a little as a team," Durant said. "That's tough to deal with it."

With the loss, the Suns dropped to 28-33 on the season. They are now four games out of of the final spot in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.

A sub .500 team with a 2-8 record over the last 10 games...what exactly is their standard?

They should play harder and smarter. Is that too much to ask?

Well Phoenix fans can take solace that 76ers are in even worse situation and 76ers fans can root for the Eagles for the time being

I blame it on the Phoenix owner. Dude thought three scorers who all need the ball in their hands to be effective was going to be a recipe to success and to top it off was unable to surround them with 3 and D players.

Let's see how much longer Booker is willing to stick around.

Budenholzer is overrated as a coach.

Booker has surprisingly been pretty vocal even recently about being up for a two-timeline rebuild around him

Suns are in worse position to the point they traded away their only pick and they won't get a massive haul with a KD trade now.. they are stuck with beal.. Booker is their man could get them something back but they never want to trade him.. 76ers have more picks.. PG could get healthy again you may see a different PG next seasson it's whether embiid can get healthy. now say neither PG or Embiid can ever get healthy then they still have more picks and a very young maxey..

I think he's referring to the standards of the players in the locker room, not the standards of the mess this team has become.

I like Booker's game, but I don't know that I want him at $53m/57m/61m over the next three seasons. CP3 has a habit of making stat stuffing players into All-NBA players.

Well, my general point was... CP3 elevates the players around him and Booker was no different. I don't have time to look at every one of CP3's teammates, but here are some accolades his teammates got with him that they didn't repeat without him.

DeAndre Jordan - 3x All-NBA, 2x All-NBA-D, 1x All-Star
David West - 1x All-Star
Mikal Bridges - 1x All-NBA-D
James Harden - MVP

Honorable mentions:
Blake Griffin - 4x All-NBA, 5x All-Star (one AS and one All-NBA 3rd without CP3)
Jamaal Crawford - 2x 6th man (one without CP3)
