LeBron James: I Will Be Able To Tell When It's Time To Retire

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Mar 26, 2025 6:02 pm

LeBron James has widely been expected to play one to two more seasons in the NBA, but his exact timeline is unclear and he doesn't appear to even know when he'll decide to retire. James turned 40 in December and is in his 21st season in the NBA.

"It's popping up more and more every year," said James on Wednesday's 'Pat McAfee Show'. "Obviously, I know that I’m on the other side of the hill than the other side. For me, it’s about my mind. I’m all about the process. If it gets to the point where I don't feel like showing up to the arena five hours in advance. Or I don't feel like training. Or I don't feel like studying the scout sheet of guys. If it gets to that point, I'll know, 'You know what, Bron, that's a wrap.' I will be able to tell."

James is on track to make an All-NBA team for the 19th time in his career with the only times he wasn't on one coming as a rookie in 2004 and his injury-shortened 18-19 season.

Hope for five more seasons with the Lakers. That will make him officially having the longest stint with a team in his career, with the Lakers.
Kobe Bryant forever
GO LAKERS
8-)
I've heard it through the grapevine..NBA gods have already designated Los Angeles LAKERS as NBA Champions in near future. The destiny is real. TRUST ME.

I think he could do 5 more I am betting its 3 though. If he is retiring next year I would be surprised he looks wayy to good and he loves playing and he knows retirement is forever.

I say he plays another 5 years. Til age 45. He said that Tom Brady played til 45 and he could do it too.

If the Lakers have a real showing in the playoffs it could light a fire underneath him.

I would have to imagine that financials are eventually going to come into play from the Lakers end. Luka will be extended at $229 million for 4-years, unless he decides to sign a shorter term deal in the interim (in order to qualify for more $ later). With the salary aprons now firmly making an impact, unless LeBron signs for less $, it's going to be difficult for the Lakers brass to put together a championship level team.
