Lakers Guard Jordan Goodwin Out Of NBA Eligibility On Two-Way Contract

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Mar 27, 2025 2:06 pm

Jordan Goodwin has become an invaluable rotation player for the Los Angeles Lakers. Unfortunately, unless they make a roster move, Goodwin will be unavailable to play for the Lakers for the rest of the season.

This is because the combo guard has used up all of his available NBA eligibility on his two-way contract. Two-way players are limited to 50 NBA games on the active list, or a prorated amount. Goodwin had a prorated amount of 19 games and has used all of them.

The Lakers can still make Goodwin available for the postseason (playoffs or Play-In Tournament) by converting or signing him to a standard contract. That would mean Los Angeles waiving a player, as they currently have all 15 standard spots filled.

Two-Way players are not eligible to play in the postseason, playoffs or Play-In Tournament, even if they have NBA eligibility left while on their two-way deals. As we are past the March 4 deadline for signing a player to a two-way deal, a team is unable to replace that spot if they convert/sign a two-way player.
