PJ Tucker Could Return To Knicks Later In Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Mar 30, 2025 7:26 pm

P.J. Tucker's second 10 Day contract with the New York Knicks expired on Sunday. In order for the Knicks to keep Tucker, they'd need to sign him for the remainder of the season.

At this point, it seems like New York is going to leave their final roster spot open. However, there is a chance Tucker could return to the Knicks by the end of the regular season. The deadline for teams to sign players is on the final day of the regular season on April 13.

New York doesn't have an obvious two-way player to sign to a standard deal, so that leaves room open for Tucker to return. The Knicks could also wait to see if a need opens up at another position instead.

They're going for the 39 year old sage rather than the 24 year old G-league sensation. Like having an assistant coach on the team.

I'm not saying it's the right move, but I don't think even a top g-leaguer would contribute very much.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!

As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

What if his name were TJ Warren? I mean, contribute in the sense of minutes, idk? But if it came down to him or PJ, I think he had more to offer

A lot of fans agree with you. Obviously Thibs doesn't. I'm in the "I don't care" camp. I have a hard time seeing much difference between two players who are likely to only play garbage time.

PJ has been here for 2 10 day contracts (I think), 20 days, maybe 8 or 9 games. He's played 2 minutes. Would Warren have played more? I don't know.

Delon Wright is getting minutes, but that's due to injuries to Brunson and Payne. So that's a little different. He's also not been terrible. I don't think PJ Tucker vs TJ Warren matters, unless they have a slew of injuries and their 14th man becomes a rotation player or starter. . . . you know, like the Mavericks. hehe.

Wright is also shooting 10 for 19 as a Knick compared to 22 for 82 as a buck, so . . . small sample size, but the buckets are falling, which is kinda cool. So sometimes you fine a player who steps up. I have my doubts that TJ Warren would do that.

But as I said, many Knick fans agree with you on this. I've read posts where they said as much.
