Jason Kidd Didn't Try To Stop Mavericks From Trading Luka Doncic When He Learned Of Deal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Apr 11, 2025 8:21 pm

Jason Kidd has said he wasn't involved in the Dallas Mavericks' decision to trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers and that Nico Harrison looped in at the eleventh hour.

"The trade was made and J-Kidd says he didn't know about it until the eleventh hour, I'll just say my understanding is he didn't exactly toss himself in front of the oncoming train to try to prevent it from happening," said Tim MacMahon on The Hoop Collective Podcast.

After the Mavericks traded Doncic for a package led by Anthony Davis, Harrison talked about how he and Kidd shared a vision for the culture they wanted to create with the Mavericks.

because he was in on it

look at the major players involved in this trade and you won't be shocked. it's just crazy the media thinks it's own fans are this stupid

jason kidd was on the lakers staff before being hired by dallas

rob pelinka has strong ties to nico

nico before this past nba draft said he considered bronny james like a nephew

anthony davis is signed to klutch sports

kendrick perkins, shams and windhorst saying lebron had no idea this trade was in the works not even 1 hour after it was announced

i just wish the nba media would stop mentioning the trade because it honestly just makes the league look worse. ok we get it, you were desperate for tv ratings going into the nbc deal next year.. it's ok

Mavericks damage control is hilarious.

First they blame Luka's conditioning, which is readily seen to be bull the moment he starts looking like the Luka of old... then we hear they're losing money hand-over-fist! So the story becomes how he wasn't on board with how the Mavericks were handling his recuperation. After it became clear that he loved the Mavericks more than many of us imagined, they hand the Chalice of Responsibility to Jason Kidd!

What happens once the fans become clear that the L rizz belongs to the Adelsons?!? They're going to blame Nico first, to be sure... but it'll be interesting to witness 8-) 8-) 8-)

They have the deal? Why do they need ratings? If it was before the deal ok but the deal had already been made this conspiracy theory makes no sense. How about Nico is an idiot. The trade though in theory was short 2 firsts.. AD top 10 player and older for younger top 5 player throw in a first and a good cost controlled role player who is a starter.. and you end up with a deal that is short 2 first round picks.. So Nico needed to demand the other first at a bare minimum and or Austin reeves.. then this deal would still be dumb but look fair.

coaches opinions don't come into play when a decision has been ultimately made before them knowing. D'antoni was powerless to Westbrook coming in for Chris Paul and am sure he got a heads up before the deal was finalised.
