Suns To Offer Devin Booker Two-Year, $149.8M Extension In Offseason

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Apr 15, 2025 9:40 pm

The Phoenix Suns are expected to offer Devin Booker a two-year, $149.8 million contract extension this offseason as he become eligible to sign it, sources tell ESPN's Brian Windhorst. Booker signed a four-year, $220 million supermax extension during the 2022 offseason that began this season.

The Suns are planning to reset the franchise around Booker, who wants to remain with the franchise long-term. Despite having limited means of improving the roster around Booker, trading him is not an option.

Booker averaged 25.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 7.1 assists this past season. Booker didn't click with Mike Budenholzer, who the Suns fired earlier this week. Booker is represented by Jessica Holtz and Melvin Booker.

These kind of contracts make it crazy hard to build winners around

This is the definition of going full r*etard. 75 mil per season for Booker?!? A proven non-winner, who can't be a number one, number two, or even a number three option... He scores, but his offensive value is really not that high (and no, midrange shooting and isoball are not valuable at all in today's game), is only a below average creator, and a defensive liability. Giving him such a contract should literally be a criminal offense - this will completely annihilate any hopes for the Suns' future, as he will instantly become untradable.

In today's NBA I wouldn't give ANY shooting guard 75 mil per season, not even to Ant. But Booker... OMG,wow... Austin Reaves is literally miles ahead of Booker in every tangible and non-tangible category and makes 6 times less money.

This Ishbia guy is a complete lunatic. I couldn't imagine someone could even think that there would be a worse owner than Sarver, but here we are...

I love to hate the modern NBA. The only saving grace is I get to witness the fallout of such blatantly bad decisions. I can't wait...
