Gregg Popovich Resting At Home After Medical Incident At Restaurant

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Apr 19, 2025 5:48 am

Gregg Popovich is currently resting at home following a medical incident at a restaurant on Tuesday night.

Popovich was stretchered away from the restaurant after a non-life-threatening injury or illness.

Popovich had a mild stroke in November and missed the rest of the season.

The Spurs have said that they would let Popovich decide if he wants to continue coaching the team.

Popovich has expressed his intent to return as head coach next season.

I'm sure he appreciates your thoughts and prayers... while you tell him what he should do with the rest of his life. :nonono:

He is too old for the job and has serious health issues, what do you expect?

Well, the article said it was a "non-life-threatening injury or illness"... Did he break his toe? Did he choke on a crouton? Did he have another stroke?

Having a stroke is a serious health situation but it does not necessarily mean you have ongoing serious health issues. My grandfather had a stroke and he was never the same; My best friend's mom had a stroke and she was impaired for several months but eventually was her old self again and is still kicking 30 years later. Sometimes strokes are so mild that the victim doesn't know it happened. If you know anything abut Pop's condition than you know more than I do, but I assume that he was still sharp enough after the stroke that they didn't immediately move on from him. I also assume that he will never be the SAS full time head coach again.

Either way... Thoughts and Prayers, now GTFO is kind of a disingenuous sentiment. It also doesn't make any sense since he is already out and has made no attempt to come back.

If he's still sharp he can still coach... I'll probably let the people that speak with him day to day make that determination.

I personally don't consider the desire to continue doing what you love, "hanging on to power", but OK.
