Top Point Guard Recruit Acaden Lewis Commits To Villanova

Top 2025 point guard prospect Acaden Lewis has committed to Villanova, he told ESPN on Thursday. Lewis, ranked as ESPN's No. 7 point guard in his class, chose Villanova after previously decommitting from Kentucky in April.

"The staff I ultimately had the most trust in was Nova," Lewis said. "We built a relationship since my sophomore year, when I first transferred to Sidwell. I have immense trust that I will thrive and they will let me be me."

Lewis selected Villanova following visits to St. John's, Georgia and Miami. The Sidwell Friends School product was named Washington D.C.'s Gatorade Player of the Year in 2024.

Known as one of the best pick-and-roll operators in his class, Lewis averaged 16.7 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds for Team Durant in Nike EYBL competition last season. His assist mark ranked third overall in the league.

"I want to play, and I want the pressure on me and my teammates' shoulders to navigate and step up to a challenge," Lewis explained. "Nova is a historic program built on winning, and I want to be a part of the revival."

Lewis addresses a significant roster need for new Villanova head coach Kevin Willard, who took over the program on March 30 after leading Maryland to the Sweet 16. Willard replaced Kyle Neptune following three consecutive seasons without NCAA tournament appearances.

The addition comes during a major roster overhaul for the Wildcats, who lost eight players to the transfer portal plus their top two scorers to exhausted eligibility. Lewis joins six incoming transfers and freshman Nico Onyekwere in Willard's first recruiting class at Villanova.

Good for Nova.

Hope Willard can get the program back where it belongs. Neptune was a massive disappointment.
