Lakers' Number One Focus In Offseason Will Be Finding Center

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu May 1, 2025 6:54 pm

The Los Angeles Lakers rescinded their trade for center Mark Williams at the trade deadline and their need at the position was glaring as they lost their first round series to the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games.

"JJ Redick has said it, Anthony Davis said it before he got traded, LeBron James has said it," said Shams Charania on The Pat McAfee Show. "They needed a center and they need a big man. That's going to be their number one focus in the offseason- going and finding a center."

Charania said it is too early to tell whether they will explore free agency or the trade market to acquire a center.

The Lakers had Jaxson Hayes starting at center following their trade of Davis for Luka Doncic with little depth behind him. LeBron James and Rui Hachimura shared center duties for the majority of high leverage minutes.

They need a centre that's obvious.. but also a defensive 3 and D guy maybe even two they have to trade Austin Reeves and potentially Rui.. Gabe and Max stand-up as expiring salaries to trade also.. They need serious role player upgrades too many roster have far role player.. Clippers have better OKC way better wolves better Boston wayyyy better and even the nuggets have somewhat better although they have slashed so much at their depth I don't think it's much in it anymore.. If they want to contend they need to make moves like Boston did in getting Derrick White and Jrue Holiday and Kristaps making them.by far the best starting 5 in basketball..
