Suns' New GM Prioritizes Coaching Search, Hints At Keeping Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed May 7, 2025 3:02 pm

Amid a disappointing season, the Phoenix Suns spent months attempting to trade Bradley Beal and briefly explored trading Kevin Durant. While Durant has been widely expected to be moved this offseason, new general manager Brian Gregory suggested both stars could remain with the franchise.

"I have a very good relationship with both those guys," Gregory said. "Kevin gave me a nice hug in the weight room the other night when the news came across Twitter. I had a great dinner with Brad Beal last Thursday, and we talked a little about summer plans and different things like that."

"My main focus, to be honest with you, is finding the right head coach for those guys," Gregory emphasized.

Beal's contract includes $53.7 million in 2025-26 and $57.1 million in 2026-27, along with a no-trade clause that complicates any potential move. Durant, meanwhile, is on a $55 million expiring contract and represents the Suns' best opportunity to quickly reshape the roster around franchise cornerstone Devin Booker.

The Suns are expected to target a first-time head coach during this hiring cycle after previously appointing veteran coaches Frank Vogel and Mike Budenholzer in successive offseasons.

The only way to fix this mess unfortunately is trading Devon Booker

the only positive to come out of this season was the fact that the Wizards were interested at one point in taking back Beal. At the end of the day you are only as good as your owner and the Wizards have Ted Leonsis.

“Durant gave me a nice hug” “I took Beal out for dinner” This isn’t a mating ritual dude. He’s delusional
