Malcolm Brogdon May Be Clippers Target This Offseason

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 9, 2025 1:15 pm

In a recent appearance on The Third Apron podcast with Yossi Gozlan, The Athletic's Law Murray talked about the LA Clippers offseason. Murray suggested that free agent guard Malcolm Brogdon could be a primary target for the Clippers this summer.

"I would consider Brogdon a primary target for the Clippers," Murray said "They almost traded (for him previously). I think if Brogdon would have been a buyout guy, I think the Clippers would have considered him along with Ben Simmons."

This past season, Brogdon played 24 games for the Washington Wizards. Brogdon averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. The veteran guard shot 43% from the field, including 28.6% from behind the arc.

Brogdon is now set to be an unrestricted free agent in July. It's unknown where Brogdon fits in for the rebuilding Wizards, where he spent one season following a deal from the Portland Trail Blazers. Washington added veterans Khris Middleton and Marcus Smart at last season's trade deadline.

Somehow I missed the Wizards loading up on decent veterans.

It's an obvious mistake. I'm sure the Wizards brass will do something to slow the rebuilding process.

Yeah, what the clippers need is yet another injury prone guy who is likely to miss half the season.

this is why i'll never be scared of the wizards regardless of how many top picks they get and who they get. their constant tanking has created a strong losing culture

Well the Wiz have only fully embraced the tank(as they should, long overdue) over the last couple of years. They were mediocre at best during the Beal and Wall eras, but they weren't trying to tank - they delusionally intended to compete with previous rosters but just weren't very good at it.

In other words the Wiz do have a losing culture, but it's only recently become intentional for the much-needed rebuild.

Define decent. I mean, I love Brogdon's game, but when will we get to see it. Dude never plays. He was just salary filler in the trade where POR fleeced WAS for Deni Avdija.
