Jaylen Brown Hasn't Ruled Out Surgery For Injured Knee

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun May 25, 2025 4:56 pm

Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown met with members of the media at an event for his sneaker and apparel company 741 Performance. Brown said this is the first time he plans to spend most of the offseason in Boston. Brown also said that it's possible that surgery could still be on the table to repair the partially torn meniscus in his right knee.

"l got a lot of doctors I gotta get evaluated with — see the potential for surgery versus no surgery, wait to speak to the [Celtics] organization," Brown said. "For now, it’s just rest and recovery. I’m taking a step back from a long season. Mentally, it was a lot of stuff going on."

Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens was optimistic about Brown's recovery when he met with the media last week.

"The knee is in a good place, structurally," Stevens said. "So, I think he felt comfortable getting out there and going after it, and, hopefully, he’ll feel better after being off of it for a couple of weeks here."

Have the surgery, sit out the season, trade Jrue and Porzingis, let Horford walk, tank for first pick, then run it back in 2026 for the Championship

That would be a sick plan, but no way they compete 2026-2027 without their supporting cast.

What do you mean "without their supporting cast"?! Jrue and Porzingis are currently liabilities, IF they play. So is Horford, who is 900 years old. They will still have White and still have Pritchard, who will arguably grow further as he will be given much more minutes and a much higher role in a season without Tatum, Brown, Porzingis and Jrue.

This is absolutely the best way forward for them. Trade the expensive old veterans, keep White and Pritchard, sit out Tatum and Brown to recover from their injuries. Get a good FRP, and then use the cleared cap space and/or picks from the Jrue and Porzingis trades to fill-out the rest of the roster with role players for 2026-2027.
