Potential Second-Round Pick Jalon Moore Suffers Torn Achilles

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jun 21, 2025 3:41 pm

Oklahoma forward Jalon Moore suffered a torn Achilles in a pre-draft workout. Moore was a potential second-round pick in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft.

Moore's agent Mike Silverman of Equity Sports was critical of the workout process leading up to the NBA Draft.

"We're truly heartbroken for Jalon. It's time to revamp the NBA pre-draft process. Flying around the country to perform intense competitive workouts exposes players to risk of major injuries. No other pro sports league puts their draft prospects in this position," Moore told ESPN.

As a senior for the Sooners, Moore averaged 15.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-7 forward shot 47% from the floor, including 38% on three-pointers.

The NBA, or at least the team he was working out for, needs to take care of this guy. A cool million dollars is nothing for them, but that could set his family up for life if he's careful with it.

There's insurance for this.

I think the NBA does need to rework the process. Intensive workouts should only be required if a guy is coming off an injury and you want to make sure they're physically fit.

The combine should be for workouts

Then I think players should do film am sessions with coaches to test where the players sense of their games is. That's done in the NFL

His agent has a point. NFL has a combined and then the players have a pro day at there school.

NBA prospects travel a lot workout for a ton of teams, get drafted and have summer league two weeks later. Crazy.
