VJ Edgecombe "appeared nervous" during his private workout with the Philadelphia 76ers, sources tell ESPN's Jonathan Givony. Edgecombe also did not shoot the ball well. However, ESPN still mocks Edgecombe to the Sixers with the third overall pick as he made a strong impression in interviews and meetings.
Edgecombe is not the best natural fit for the Sixers due to his overlap with Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain.
Ace Bailey has also been a candidate for the Sixers at No. 3, but he appears to be avoiding the franchise evidenced by his canceled workout last week.
In 33 games with Baylor as a freshman last season, Edgecombe averaged 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals. Edgecombe had a PER of 22.6.
