Bradley Beal Owed 25% Advance Payment For 2025-26 Salary On July 15

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jul 12, 2025 6:14 pm

Bradley Beal is owed a 25% advance payment for next season's salary on July 15, sources told Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

The payment, worth more than $13 million, could explain why Beal's buyout process with the Suns has been slow to unfold.

Although Beal will receive the payment even if he agrees to a buyout with the Suns, he could still wait for it to go through before making his departure official.

Several teams have registered interest in Beal, including the Clippers, Lakers, Warriors, Timberwolves, and Bucks.

The Clippers are seen as the favorites to sign Beal

The more details released about this contract make it more and more clear that this was THE dumbest contract ever handed out in the NBA. Not because of who got it but because of all the other little weird stipulations they attached to it that were completely unnecessary

From a tax perspective it makes perfect sense.

When a team like Washington is begging to keep its franchise player at the time they had to offer some outrageous style contract. Beal accepted the offer knowing that as he’s always been content being a loser in this league for most of his career. Early in his career when him and John Wall starting to become a solid duo you’d thought they would start to build into a winner but that didn’t last very long. But both of them got their bags so what do they care amirite

First the only weird stipulation is the no-trade clause, players rarely qualify for one and have leverage to get one, and Beal did. And yeah Washington really wanted to keep him so that was that.

Second Wall just got injured, he was good and competitive and kind of an iron man for years and then he became chronically injured and lost his difference making athleticism. Happens.

In any case Washington should’ve traded Beal a few years before they did for multiple reasons, but they also didn’t lose anything in this process really. They dumped him off and now it’s just Phoenix having to pay up because if the failure of their KD experiment. Only thing that sucks for Washington was dealing the rebuild by a few years to sit in painful mediocrity with Beal and then Westbrook.

He has a guaranteed contract, he’s going to get paid all or nearly all of it no matter what happens. This is probably an irrelevant story, as the text says (he would still get this lump sum whatever buyout happened), but either way the Suns will still have his contract on the books and he’ll still get his money. He’s not really holding up anything, besides a roster spot that everyone knows is coming.
