Suns, Clippers Still Considering Signing Chris Paul

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jul 12, 2025 6:25 pm

The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers are still deciding whether to sign Chris Paul, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Paul, who already turned down interest from the Hornets, is looking to play close to his Los Angeles home.

Paul is looking for starting opportunities for what he says would be his final season in the league.

The Clippers currently have the cap and roster space to sign both Paul and Bradley Beal

Realistically, I think every non-tanking team in the NBA would sign CP3 to a vet-min deal... but very few would guarantee him a starting spot and maybe none of those are near LA. Here is a list of teams that might start CP3: CHI, DAL, DET, MIA, MIL.
PHX is a probably, but why would he want to go back there? They dumped him and they aren't even good. (They'll be better with him, but they won't be contenders.)
LAC is a maybe, but he left there on bad terms, he broke up with Harden on bad terms and the minutes they really need him is when Harden is sitting.

Any chance he could start with Sacramento?

He should, but they just signed Schroeder to 3yr/$45m. It doesn't make much sense to upset Schroeder by bringing in a ringer for one season, especially since this season will probably be more about finding trade partners than winning.

I can't Imagine CP3 wanting to be a part of that either.

You're probably correct. I imagine DS and CP3 have a good relationship from their time together in OKC but I could be wrong.

I'm sure they do, but I'm sure both want to start. More over, SAC is kind of a Frankenstein's Monster of used parts right now.
