Devin Carter Seen As Potential Trade Candidate To Make Room For Russell Westbrook Signing

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Aug 29, 2025 6:53 am

The Sacramento Kings continue to "covet" Russell Westbrook, sources told Jake Fischer of The People's Insider.

In order to make room in the backcourt for Westbrook's signing, people around the league see Devin Carter as a likely trade candidate.

Malik Monk was a frequent target of trade rumors earlier this offseason, though the Kings are no longer discussing deals involving the shooting guard.

The Kings signed Dennis Schroder to be their starting point guard earlier this offseason.

Carter averaged 3.8 points and 2.1 rebounds last season for the Kings.

Who is this person within the Kings who wants this?

A former MVP on a minimum deal? Any team going nowhere would consider this just to sell tickets... and SAC is going nowhere!

Devin Carter will be a steal for whomever gets him. Kings fans should be boycotting games all next year.

Yup. I'd actually rather go with Russ over Schroder starting. Russ could have a similar dynamic with Sabonis as he had with Jokic, and Schroder has always been better off the bench. It could be exciting, even if not in the W column

It depends on two things:
1) Which Schroeder do we see?
2) Will Doug Christie sit Russ down when he gets out of control?
