NBA Talent Evaluators Question Whether Muhammad Can Make Teammates Better

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Mar 23, 2013 2:55 pm

Shabazz Muhammad seams to have played his way down the draft board, with NBA executives and scouts categorizing the 6-foot-6 guard as a one-dimensional scorer.

"He doesn't really make anybody better," one executive said. "He is athletic. And he can score in a lot of ways. But I'm not sure what he does for everyone around him."

"I'd like to see if he can pass the ball," one scout said. "He's a scorer, not a shooter."

Muhammad averaged less than one assist per game during his freshman year at UCLA.

One general manager called Muhammad a "really talented kid," but also noted that "some nights he looks like the No. 15 pick."

I think he looks like a poor man's OJ Mayo... and Mayo was fortunate enough to get it 2-3 years into his career that he had to become well-rounded and turn up the intensity to make it in the NBA.

Shabazz seems immature for someone who can score like he can. I'd have him on my DoNotDraft board if I were anywhere in the lottery this year.

the problem is that when he struggles you know his dad is gonna be back there chattering blaming everyone in the organization but Shabazz, pushing him to leave if its a small market etc.

He's immature selfish and looks to be in terrible shape, and doesn't even pretend to defend

If you're a perimeter player, it's hard to get assists when you can't dribble.

"Harden's a guy that averages 26 in the NBA, but if he was on the playground with you he'd only average about 5 because they wouldn't let him get those free throws." --Scott Hastings, April 6, 2013
