Lance Blanks will no longer serve as general manager of the Phoenix Suns.
“Lance has been a trusted friend and colleague,” said Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby. “I thank him personally and professionally for his hard work on behalf of the Suns. We will continue to prepare for the offseason even as we look for his replacement.”
Blanks was originally named to the post on Aug. 5, 2010, after serving in the front offices of the Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs.

Re: Lance Blanks Out As Suns' GM
I'm trying to remember what great moves Lance has made, but I am drawing Blanks:
- Signing Beasley?
- Drafting Kendall Marshall?
- Trading for Wesley Johnson?
- Signing Childress and Warrick?
Help me out here....

Well he got a draft pick for taking on Wesley Johnson, does that count for anything...? It was worth a shot lol.

Re: Lance Blanks Out As Suns' GM
Don't forget the Goran Dragic trade to Houston. In 2011, Dragic, who was making under 1 million and could have been resigned for about 2 million a year for 3 years, was traded to Houston along with a first round protected pick to Houston for Aaron Brooks. Then, when Brooks stunk (no surprise as he averaged 8 points less in 2011 than in 2010 and was basically replaced by Kyle Lowry) and Dragic excelled (again no surprise there; remember the 26 point game against San Antonio?) Phoenix resigns Dragic for 4 years and $30 million dollars. So, Blanks gave up a 1st round draft pick and paid Dragic an extra 5.5 million dollars; all to get the same player. Now that is how you get fired as a GM. The Rockets on the other hand, end up getting a first round pick, not overpaying for Dragic, and resigning Aaron Brooks when he got cut from Sacramento. Basically, the Rockets keep their players and get extra picks and money. The Suns get their player back, lose a pick and money. Hilarious.
