Larry Drew, Assistant Begin Searching For New Jobs

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon May 6, 2013 8:10 pm

Larry Drew and his coaching staff have begun searching for new opportunities as they remain in limbo in regards to their status for next season with the Atlanta Hawks, according to sources.

Danny Ferry is expected to reach a decision about their future by the middle of this week. One source said the odds are long that Ferry will bring back Drew and his staff.

Drew's contract expires on July 1.

Drew has a 128-102 record in three seasons with the Hawks.

The Hawks need some different players, not a new coach. Larry and staff have done a great job with what they had! S&T Smith and filler to the Lakers for Gasol, move Horford to the 4, pick up a few good role players, and give Larry and staff a 1 year extension.

Although I'd love to find a S&T partner for Smoove, I don't see it happening and the Lakers cannot participate in S&T deals since they are so far over the tax. Only teams that can participate in S&T deals are teams that are under the tax and I don't think Smith is interested in any of those teams except maybe HOU. As for LD, he did a good job while here, but it's time for a change. It's time to clean out all that remains of Woody and bring in a new regime.
