It would obviously be S&T. There are no realistic scenarios where we get under the cap enough to sign him

I can't see the Lakers wanting Bogut and Lee even if the Warriors threw in Barnes...and i don't see the Warriors overhauling their young roster like that...just unrealistic. Lakers would rather tank and also save capspace for 2014.

The common idea being talked about:

Bogut + (one of Barnes or Klay) + 2014/2016 1sts

for Dwight

We have a lot of large expirings, which the Lakers likely value more than David Lee. You added Lee to the deal, not any Laker or Warrior fans.

Thats the basis for most trades I've seen, and its not at all unrealistic to break up a young core for a top 5 NBA player. In fact its very realistic, because thats usually what teams selling top 5 players are looking for, and young teams looking to take the next step are chomping at the bit for. Its extremely realistic.

The problem is convincing Dwight to come here AND convincing the Lakers to help us make it happen.

That's the thing though, you have to rely on those two things while the Hawks and Rockets just only need to convince Dwight....they don't need any other help....to an extent the Mavs can sign Howard outright with no need for S/T too, but i really haven't looked at their cap situation.

Ohhhh you meant the entire deal? Yeah, its not very likely to happen. I thought you meant it was unrealistic for the W's to break up their core to get Dwight

yeah, more of the former and a bit of the latter too, but bottom line is that they didn't put themselves in position too, but honestly, the warriors don't need d12...they just need some experience together and they will be in good position to seriously contend in a couple of years with some added role players

i think besides lakers, it really is a 2 team race with rockets and hawks though the rockets have a star already in harden, so they have the edge....mavs have dirk, but he is past prime...

We absolutely need D12. The only reason we made our playoff run was a semi-healthy Andrew Bogut. Replace him with a semi-healthy Dwight Howard, and we're just as good, if not better. Even if it does cost Barnes or Klay.
