Yeah I would sya they have one of the best frontcourts but there are challengers. But they don't have that good of a backup center. They only have Mahimi behind Hibbert and this gives them someone who can spell Hibbert from time to time along with Mahimi. As for this being cancerous yeah that is possible but not as likely as this is a strong team with good leadership and they should be able to handle guys like this. They have a good structure in place and winning tends to make people happy and that includes Bynum. Even if he does start becoming problematic I don't see it hurting the play of the other guys. If he is on good behavior he makes this just that much more deeper.

Bynum has respect for his elders...and he dealt with Kobe for years...Kobe taught him what it takes to get the bling....Bynum might even end up taking the starting position

Re: Pacers Plan To Sign Andrew Bynum
Andrew Bynum is still a very talented basketball player who has not begun to reach his potential. Coaching and a good mentor can help his situation. The Pacers have an excellent team and could use the talents Bynum brings to the organiztion. The question is can he differentiate between his career and the responsibilites that are vital to himself and the organization or cause trouble. Can he take complete control of himself as an adult next as a NBA player who earns a very respectable income or does he want to continue with nonsense. Foolishness and child-like behavior does not resonate well with the fans or the media. If he does not want to play basketball and be a responsible citizen than go get a regular job and leave basketball. I leave this decision to Andrew. I enjoyed watching him develop into to an excellent NBA center and Phil Jackson was the coach. Andrew if you read this commentary about yourself; please take a position and take corrective steps to move your career forward not backwards you have good support from the NBA fans. Knock it off and let's play basketball.

Re: Pacers Plan To Sign Andrew Bynum
A bench combo of Scola & Bynum is better than most other teams starting 4 & 5's.
Bynum is the kind of guy who won't try unless he thinks it's worth it. On a team like CLE he probably just didn't see the point. With Indy I think he'll finally start trying again.
No way IND loses this year to MIA. They took them to 7 games last year and the Heat have gotten worse while IND has only gotten better.

Still doubt he will see many minutes behind Mahinmi.
This is more like an insurance policy move.

Good point. Also, he is cheap. If he decides he wants to contribute to the team, its a great contract. I don't think he could poison the team, at least this year. I have a hard time believing that an outsider coming in to a tight group that is winning could effect the team with their own personal negativity.cs hauser wrote:It's pretty obvious that the Pacers have no real need for Bynum. They have no use for him; not for the short term, not for the long term. The only reason they're signing him is to keep him away from Miami. That is the ONLY reason.
Just for show, they might give him a few garbage minutes here and there. But what they really want to do is put him in the inactive list as soon as the ink on his contract is dry.

lol @ drummond/monroe. Drummond is one of the most overrated players in the NBA.

I couldn't agree more with you. I don't blame Bynum for losing some of his passion for the game, after all he has been through some really discouraging injuries that could really take away anyone's love for basketball. When he was hurt in Memphis my heart sank. He was playing so well at that point and on his way to truly becoming one of the best big men in basketball. He always put the work in and when the Lakers were rolling Bynum was always jumping off the bench to congratulate guys and seemed very well liked with his teammates. Hard times can sometimes bring out the worst in someone.
I am puling for Andrew. He doesn't have Phil to motivate him any longer pacing the sideline with, "Here kitty, kitty, kitty...", but he is back on a team where he knows if he doesn't come to play he won't step foot on the court. His pride has taken a hit and if he is healthy to go I feel he will make an impact.

Re: Pacers Plan To Sign Andrew Bynum
Am I the only one who think it is normal? Who wouldn't be completely depressed in Clevland...they are like the worst organization, or at least bottom 3!!!
On a team of winners, and leaders, I expect Bynum to get a new spark in life. If I were Hibbert or West, I would pump his blood and get it boiling, because Bynum off bench could turn into a very valuable piece that might just be what you need to win a Ring!
I expect Bynum to make a comeback, with a fire in his belly, and helps Pacers win the Championship this year!

Larry Bird won't put up with that mess either.
Yea that's why I'm kind of shocked Bird would sign Bynum because Bird wouldn't put up with that mess, but if Bynum can't get it together with Vogel, Bird, West, Hibbert, and Granger, this will probably the last chance for Bynum.

Not happening. Hibbert is a locked. He's a top 10 center.
